Different methods of cooking rice


1. By using Microwave oven : Rice 1 cup, water - 4 cups Wash rice and mix with measured water.
    Keep in microwave proof dish.  Cook in micro power 'medium high' for 10 to 12 minutes in
    open container.  Close with lid and cook in 'high' for another 5 to 7 minutes.

2. By using Electric rice cooker : Rice 1 cup, water - 3 cups Wash and mix measured water to rice.
    Keep in electric rice cooker and cook till rice becomes soft.

3. By using Rice cooker : Rice 1 cup, water - 5 cups Wash and soak rice for one hour.  Drain water
    completely from soaked rice.  Pour measured water in rice cooker and mix rice to this, then
    close lid.  Cook in reduced flame for 30 minutes.

4. Pressure cooker method : Rice 1 cup, water 3 cups Wash rice and drain water completely.  Add
    measured water and keep in pressure cooker.  Cook for 15 minutes after vent weight is kept.
    While making biriyani or mixed rice varieties use less water.  For daily cooking if you are using
    old rice use 3 cups of water.  Reduce volume of water if new rice is used.
